Letter From Principal

Beth Wallingford
Welcome to Crestwood Elementary! I am so pleased that you have found your way to our school website. We have an amazing staff and the best community around! This school is a very special place with a long history of excellence, a cornerstone of the city of Crestwood since its establishment in 1916. I feel honored and grateful to have the opportunity to lead this phenomenal school!

While I started my career teaching special education in Jefferson County, my roots in Oldham County run deep. In 2005, I started teaching at East Oldham Middle School. At EOMS I taught 7th and 8th grade science, served as a lead teacher and a member of the intervention committee, and then coordinated the Gifted & Talented program. In 2018, I transitioned to school leadership, taking on the role of Assistant Principal here at Crestwood. Then in 2020, I was honored to be selected as Principal. Those first couple of years were challenging ones, as we all pulled together to navigate the changes brought about by the pandemic; however, challenges only make us stronger. We were able to prioritize in-person learning, keep students as our focus, and we are now back on stable ground. At this point, the sky’s the limit for Crestwood!

In addition to my professional experience in Oldham County, I am also an OCS parent and live just down the road in Pewee Valley. All three of my children were proud Crestwood Cougars, and even though they have now moved on to middle and high school, I love that we are a part of such a family-centered community, going back to their elementary days! I am committed to continuing that tradition of excellence, as I firmly believe that we all must work together for children to reach their full potential.

One of my guiding principles as Crestwood’s leader is to remember that every child, teacher, and parent is an important part of our school community. I want all of our students to leave Crestwood confident in themselves as learners. I want every staff member to have the tools they need to support the learning of our students. I want every parent to feel as they are a partner in their child’s learning.

Once again, thank you for visiting our school site. I hope it provides you with the information you are looking for, but if not, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I love to hear from our community!
